What is Discipleship?
1. Discipleship means following Jesus
“Then Jesus said to his disciples, ‘Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross and follow me.’”
— Matthew 16:24
At its core, discipleship starts with surrender—choosing to follow Jesus fully.
2. Discipleship is about transformation
“Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.”
— Romans 12:2
Discipleship shapes our hearts, minds, and actions to reflect Christ. It’s not about perfection but progression.
3. Discipleship involves teaching and multiplication
“Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them… teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.”
— Matthew 28:19–20 (The Great Commission)
Jesus commands His followers not only to be disciples but to make disciples—teaching others to live out their faith.
4. Discipleship happens in community
“As iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another.”
— Proverbs 27:17
Discipleship isn’t a solo mission. It grows best through intentional relationships—mentoring, accountability, encouragement.
